Aki is a straight A’s student and loves it. He works hard for it. In fact, he spends most of his time studying.
He thinks about everything seriously and considers himself a realistic person.
He is sarcastic person. He says what he truly thinks and doesn’t like to use sugar-coated words. He usually doesn’t talk much though. He’s not the type who does small talks. If he does talks, sometimes his sarcastic comments just come out.
He might seem indifferent to other people, considering how less he talks and his sarcasm, but he actually understands the importance of having friends. He’s just not really good at making friends. He has best friends from junior high school, and it was definitely not him who took iniative to be friends. He still keeps in touch with his best friends.
He doesn’t have best friends from high school, but he has some study buddies. Aki’s classmates will go to him and his study buddies if they are confused about school subjects. They will gladly teach them.
He is head over heels for his best friend from junior high school, Minami Akira. But he refuses to admit it, even to himself. He secretly (and unconsciously) muses about how his name is written in the same kanji as Akira.family & history

Sakamoto Takashi is very strict. He has been pushing Aki to be the top student. He feels that he’s a failure. He failed getting to the prestigious university that he wanted and he ruined his chance of getting his dream job. So he forces his sons to become more successful than him.
Aki doesn’t hate being pushed to study. He doesn’t hate studying at all. He enjoys being a top student. But his father never seems to be satisfied with him. When he’s not satisfied he gets easily irritated. And he yells at people. Aki doesn’t mind if he yells at him. But he can’t forgive him for yelling at his mother.
His mother, Miki, is a stay at home mom. Calm in appearance, and also at heart. She speaks slowly, which often irritates her husband. Aki and his mother are not really close, but Aki feels obligated to protect her from his father.
His younger brother, Minoru, is almost a copy of him. Minoru is the younger and chubbier version of Aki. He is the top student in his junior high school.
Aki’s family doesn’t give him comfort. He found it in his best friends from junior high school. Akira was the one who took the initiative to be friends. He is grateful to her for that.
Aki and Minami were classmates at 2nd and 3rd grade. They were competing in grades. He took her as a serious rival. But then they became best friends, along with three others. And he began to admire Akira. Admiration turns into love.
He was sarcastic and indifferent to people. After he met his best friends, he had realized that he needs people and became more caring to others. He is still sarcastic, but at least now he is more considerate. He became more sociable and even has a few study buddies at high school.
He wanted to go to Karasumori High School (unconsciously, in order to be with Akira). But his father enrolled him in Washizu because it has good academic reputation.other
