There was something about public school food that had always been a complete turn-off to Hoshiko. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate the workers who worked hard to....produce their best effort, but she could hardly abide by the rather fake-tasting meals. On the contrary, she sometimes felt like she'd prefer to try eating those plastic decoration foods over some of the things served at Karasumori High. And she liked the lunch workers. She knew it wasn't their faults that the food was less than desirable. They just cooked what they were given; it was all prepackaged stuff.
So today, Hoshiko had done the smart thing. She'd found some time the night before to make herself a sandwich from that night's leftovers from dinner, and voila! She'd had a semi-edible looking lunch. It wasn't the prettiest of foods in the room; Hoshiko had to admit, as she carried her paper lunch bag to an empty table, some of the students had bento boxes she was definitely envious of.
Sitting down at a cleaner-looking, empty table, Hoshiko got all settled in and pulled her sandwich out of the paper bag.
All things considered, it didn't look too bad. Just as though it might have needed a refrigerator the past few hours it had been sitting in her school bag, perhaps, but nothing rendering it completely inedible. It still looked a great deal better than the cafeteria food, Hoshiko noted, as one student walked by with a tray of something that resembled aged curry.
"Itadakimaaaaaaasu!" Hoshiko opened wide and took in a huge chunk of the sandwich, grinning. Not bad. Not bad at all. Though the salty flavor of the fish was making her thirsty, and...
No drink?
Hoshiko realized she'd forgotten to pack something to drink, and sighed. The only other alternative now was water, unless she wanted to get in the long cafeteria line to wait to buy something else.
Hoshiko opted for the former. She didn't want her fish sandwich to get any older.
Leaving the food behind on the table, the 2nd year moved for where the water machine was, snatching up one of the plastic cups laid out at the machine-side, then filling it up with some of the water. Worst case scenario, she fell asleep in class that afternoon--Hoshiko liked to drink more vibrant drinks, typically, because they seemed to best keep her awake in the most boring classes--but she would manage all right anyway.
Moving back for the table, holding the water cup in one hand and ruffling her hair a little with the other, Hoshiko didn't see the other student get up from their chair and move from their table.....right into her. The water made a perfect arc out of its glass as it landed on the other student.
Hoshiko shrieked. "AH! Sorry! I'm so sorry!" Lacking anything sufficient to pat down the now wet person, Hoshiko merely resorted to her hands, practically beating down on the spots on the other's uniform that looked wet.
When the girl felt content with her work, at least enough for the time-being, she backed up slightly, rubbing her hands on the skirt of her own uniform. "There....good as new, ne?"
Her eyes widened when she realized just who it was that she'd soaked.

Wataru didnt really like the school cafeteria but sometimes the food was alright. It depended on the daily specials that the cafeteria provided and sometimes it would attract Wataru. His stomach actually. It was half of lunch and Wataru finished his practise in the gym. He was too hungry to go on any further and knew that he wouldnt get anywhere or improve his skills. Infact, the opposite might happen so he decided to head over to the cafeteria.
For some reason, it was less crowded today maybe because everyone had already bought their food and went to the playground to eat. Wataru ordered two yakisoba bread and a quick miso soup. One bread would not fill the red headed yankee up especially now, he does alot of physical activity which required more energy. He wondered if he should have travelled to the school roof top to eat but he didnt really want to see his old yankee friends which did not change their old ways. Especially Akabane and his crew. That guy just stayed like how he always was.
So, Wataru chose a seat near the edge of the big room, deciding to quickly gobble down the food. Then, he suddenly remembered that he failed his last english test. Grabbing for his english pocket book in the back of his pant pockets, scurriedly, flipping the pages which were marked by sticky notes. There was no way he was going to fail again otherwise he would might have to repeat a year. That was definitely one thing Wataru didnt look forward to.
He used to be worried of his image alot and think of what other people might say when they saw him studying. But this didnt matter anymore. Compared to his tumbling dreams, his image was nothing. He was an EX-YANKEE. Although he still had dyed hair, that was just his style. He liked it that way, but he didnt go picking fights anymore, so he wouldnt be classified as a yankee anymore right?....right?
Wataru was reciting the english words as he drank his soup and he had already finished one of his bread. Man, these words and phrases are so hard! He thought. Wataru had enough of studying the foreign language and decided to check out on his teammates. Opening the 2nd yakisoba bread from its packet, he took a bite and started to head off back in the direction of the gym. Yakisoba bread was Wataru's favourite. It was noodle and bread after all. All in one snack.
Enjoying his bread and not really paying attention to the surroundings, suddenly, out of nowhere, water splashed directly on his pink tumbling t-shirt and his black uniform. The uniform soaked up most of the water but he didnt care about that. The thing he cared about was the pink shirt and the fact that it startled him so much, he almost dropped his bread.
"AH! Sorry! I'm so sorry!" It was a girls voice bit he didnt recognise it. Well.... Wataru didnt know alot of girls anyways. Then, awkwardly, the girl started to attempt to wipe of the water. Wataru's brain was too slow process what had just happened. "There....good as new, ne?"
Then, he finally realised. "OI! Watch where you are going! You almost made me drop my bread" He didnt particularly shout it out or said it loudly, or so he thought.
Oh just how he wished it was Mari-chan. Then he could act all nice and start a conversation.
"Who are you anyways? Sheesh, you're in my way. I need to go practise" Wataru nodded his head towards the direction of the exit of the cafeteria. It sounded a little harsher than intended but he was not happy about his shirt getting wet.

ooc: Oh my goodness, I love your post. "OI! Watch where you are going! You almost made me drop my bread."Hoshiko blinked, still slightly slightly horrified about who she'd collided with, then glanced at the floor where there was, indeed, a half eaten sandwich lying. She felt a bit bad about that. Whether it was school food or not, she didn't much like wasting food other people probably didn't have. She looked back up the Yankee, trying to think of what to say, when he spoke again, much harsher this time, gesturing to the exit to the cafeteria. "Who are you anyways? Sheesh, you're in my way. I need to go practise."Hoshiko had been about to apologize again--she tried her best not to mess with the Yankee students in the school, and this one, who she recognized as Azuma Wataru, was renowned for being something of a king in Karasumori High--but she snapped her mouth shut and refrained from any apologies after the older student had spoken. Despite the fact that she was nervous now, having run into a full-blown Yankee, she also felt slightly determined to point out to him that he had just as much fault in this whole thing as she did. He was the one who hadn't been watching where he was going. She'd just been heading back to her table and bumped into him. "Hey." Hoshiko frowned and looked back up at the Yankee, trying to be as determined and intimidating as she could. "We're both to blame for this. We both bumped into each other! Just think, if you hadn't been wandering aimlessly, then I wouldn't have hit anything! And vice versa and all that." She looked into the now-empty cup and sighed. "And now you've taken all my water too. If you really need to get by, maybe you could say excuse me? You have to go practice, I have to go eat, same thing, right...?" Then she froze. Practice? Wait.... Hoshiko looked away, having suddenly realized why she'd been so nervous. Not because she'd encountered a Yankee, but rather, a member of the male Tumbling team at Karasumori! She knew very little about Tumbling and even less about the boys on the team, with the exception, perhaps, of Hino, who she took classes with. But something she did know for sure was that it absolutely intrigued her. "Wait.....you're.....you're on the Tumbling team, right?" Hoshiko's eyes widened as she returned her gaze to the redhead.

OOC: ...but it wasnt good.. I like your character! she seems very cute!
"Who are you anyways? Sheesh, you're in my way. I need to go practise" Wataru had almost started pouting like he usually would but immediately stopped himself. He was not going to show his soft side to this girl. What a bad day, he thought.
"Hey. We're both to blame for this. We both bumped into each other! Just think, if you hadn't been wandering aimlessly, then I wouldn't have hit anything! And vice versa and all that."
Wataru widened his eyes and stared unbelievably at the girl. Was she trying to pick a fight with him? Too bad he didnt hit women.
"And now you've taken all my water too. If you really need to get by, maybe you could say excuse me? You have to go practice, I have to go eat, same thing, right...?"
Wow, how ignorant is this girl? Wataru still was in a little shock of how this girl, standing infront of him, looking so small and petite had the courage to talk to him that way. Maybe he had lost power in the yankee world he thought. Maybe because he started to study. Maybe he looked weaker now. Weak? There was no way Wataru would be weak. Somehow, he needed to show power and make the girl realise that he was the one in power of this situation.
"Wait.....you're.....you're on the Tumbling team, right?" he girl looked at him with excitement all of a sudden. And for some reason, this angered the yankee even more.
"HAH?" Man, Wataru was getting really impatient. "You made me lose my bread when i had to PAY for it. You can just go fill up your cup with water again. So you want to buy me another bread or what?" Wataru was mocking the girl.
Trying to calm himself down, Wataru remembered the question the girl had just asked. He considered whether he should answer it or not. Would the fact that he was in the Tumbling team make him seem more weaker?
"Why do I have to tell you? I don't even know you. Oh wait, I do now." Who was she anyways? How dare she make such comments against the all-mighty yankee king. Wataru sure was going to remember how the girl looks like even though he didnt know her name. But it was enough to know that he was going to try to stay away from her as far as possible. He didnt want another bread dropping incident to happen again. Atleast not yaki-soba bread. The poor bread...
"Stay away from us, you bread killer! What a evil girl, even killing innocent things like bread. Who knows what you will do to our team." Wataru eyed the girl suspiciously, hoping to scare her a bit.

OOC: Yeah it was!!! And I liked the bread killer part! XD
Hoshiko hadn't expected warm words and a pat on the back from the Yankee after she'd cost him a meal, but she hadn't expected full rage from either. She actually found herself backing up slightly as he responded to what she was sure had just been a remark of genuine interest on her part.
"HAH? You made me lose my bread when i had to PAY for it. You can just go fill up your cup with water again. So you want to buy me another bread or what?"
Hoshiko frowned again and folded her arms. "That's true, I could just go fill up the cup again. But you could always have picked up your food within five seconds of it falling to the floor. Five second rule! And see, you didn't do that, so you wasted food someone else could have been eating. Tsk tsk. Anyway...about the Tumbling team..."
"Why do I have to tell you?"
Hoshiko went silent. The boy in front of her was already prepared to answer, it seemed.
"I don't even know you. Oh wait, I do now."
Hoshiko raised an eyebrow. "Not necessarily. I don't even know your name, and I'm thinking you don't know mine..."
"Stay away from us, you bread killer! What a evil girl, even killing innocent things like bread. Who knows what you will do to our team." Then the Yankee adopted the most interesting face Hoshiko had ever seen. She couldn't tell if he was playing now, trying to be sarcastic, or if that really was his "scary" face and she was just seeing it in the wrong light. Something about the whole situation just seemed so funny.
Hoshiko decided not to repress her laughter. "You know, people always say Yankees are absolute terrors, but you seem pretty fun, bread waster. I'm Hoshiko, I'm a second year. Hino's on the Tumbling Team, so you probably know him. Well, I'm in his class. And I'm willing to offer you my home made fish sandwich to replace your floored one if you'll tell me about the team! What do you think, huh?"

"That's true, I could just go fill up the cup again. But you could always have picked up your food within five seconds of it falling to the floor. Five second rule! And see, you didn't do that, so you wasted food someone else could have been eating. Tsk tsk. Anyway...about the Tumbling team..." Five second rule? ...FIVE SECOND RULE? What was she, Wataru thought. Still in grade 1? But the girl has to be praised that she was infact, standing infront of one of the most scariest yankees of all time. Scariest, most mean but also exceptionally childish. Well, Wataru thinks he may just be the most best fighting yankee and an ikemen at the same time. Yep, he was a rare species.
"Not necessarily. I don't even know your name, and I'm thinking you don't know mine..." The girl was right... they were like complete strangers.. well kind of.
"Stay away from us, you bread killer! What a evil girl, even killing innocent things like bread. Who knows what you will do to our team." Wataru eyed the girl suspiciously, hoping to scare her a bit. To Wataru's horror, the girl didnt seem scared at all, in fact, she was looking at him as if he was the child.
You know, people always say Yankees are absolute terrors, but you seem pretty fun, bread waster. I'm Hoshiko, I'm a second year. Hino's on the Tumbling Team, so you probably know him. Well, I'm in his class. And I'm willing to offer you my home made fish sandwich to replace your floored one if you'll tell me about the team! What do you think, huh?"
Wow, the girl talks as if she was almost a boy... one that has knew Wataru for a long time. Now that Wataru was paying more attention, he finally realised how cute the girl standing infront of him was. Her frame was just right, with a cute smile on her face.
Then, his brain finally processed what the 'Hoshiko chick' just said. Hino. Again? What was he? A chick magnet? Was he really that attractive? These type of questions rummaged Wataru's brain at the speed of light. Not that he didnt like the boy, but it was rather the fact that Wataru thinks he wasnt 'manly' enough. He was pretty small in build for a boy. But maybe that was what made him so suitable for tumbling and gymnastics.
Actually, when Hoshiko was asking him about their team, Wataru was secretly happy. He liked how their team was more together and their teamwork improved. The more he did tumbling, the more he loved it. They had been working hard lately, and clearly, their results have paid off. I mean, Even random girls from the school know us now? Wataru thought. Their reputation must have gone up.
Finally, he replied "Food? Fish sandwich?" He hesistated... "Let me see it first. I need to see if it can be good enough for my stomach." Wataru has already actually made up his mind to gobble down whatever was offered. He wasnt particularly picky with his food. "Home made? Well I bet it can't beat my homemade food!" Smiling like silly, he loved how his mum made omelette rice, placing the mini flag right into the soft, fluffy egg and rice.
Changing to his more 'serious' face now, "Why are you so curious about the team anyways?" Then, Wataru added "Must be Hino huh? He stole your heart eh?" Wanting to tease the girl, although not happy with how Hino is always the popular one, he liked making fun of people. In a joking way.

Hoshiko offered the Yankee the nicest smile she could manage as she waited for his answer. He seemed to be lost in thought--about what, she couldn't imagine--but finally, his mind seemed to revert back to what she'd originally offered, and she smiled even wider.
"Food? Fish sandwich?"
Hoshiko nodded, and started rocking back and forth on her feet in wait of the Yankee's answer. She wasn't promising a good fish sandwich, but she figured anything was better than the yakisoba bread on the floor.
"Let me see it first. I need to see if it can be good enough for my stomach."
The girl's smile drooped. "Awww...that wasn't part of the bargain! You're gonna say no just because you see it before you eat it." She sighed and looked at the floor. "I didn't have time to make anything fancy, ya know. It's whatever's in the fridge and available!" She shrugged.
Worst case scenario? The boy didn't take it. But she was actually more unnerved that he hadn't given her his name. She was considering merely calling him Reddie, or maybe Freddie, since that had "reddie" in it and sounded cooler. It felt kind of weird calling him anything else. Yankee certainly wouldn't do. And Mister was just awkward--he wasn't her grandpa!
"Home made? Well I bet it can't beat my homemade food!"
Hoshiko raised her eyebrows. "You.....cook, Freddie?" She did a double blink. For some reason, she couldn't imagine the tough-looking, red-haired Tumbling Yankee at a stove. But her imagination then had him in the kitchen, wearing an apron, smiling, and looking up to the boy's face again, Hoshiko decided it was definitely possible. "That's cute! Maybe I should call you Chef Bread-dropper instead!"
She smiled. That seemed good enough for now, if he wouldn't give her his real name. Though she was curious about his homemade food. She figured probably anything was better than a salty fish sandwich that had probably gone partly stale in her bag.
"Why are you so curious about the team anyways?"
Hoshiko opened her mouth to respond--she really did have a genuine interest in the sport, and she'd been wishing for some time now that she could find a way to join in, or at least watch--but the Yankee boy continued to speak, cutting off her train of thought.
"Must be Hino huh? He stole your heart eh?"
It took a moment for Hoshiko to process and really understand what had been said.
"Eh?" She shook her head. "If he stole anything, he better give it back. Anyway, I only mentioned him cuz I know he's on the team and all, and one of your lead people. I don't really talk to him." She hesitated, then added, leaning in close to the Yankee to whisper, "I don't think he likes girls. But then again, I don't either. They're all snobs."
She drew back and folded her arms. "So are you taking that sandwich, Chef Bread-dropper Freddie, or not?"

"You.....cook, Freddie?"That's cute! Maybe I should call you Chef Bread-dropper instead!" Freddie? What language was the girl speaking in? Wataru couldnt really understand. All he knew was that it was a weird name. He had no idea what it meant and didnt even bother to ask because he knew it was something childish.
"My name is Azuma Wataru. The mighty yankee of Karasumori High School. Got that? Azuma W-A-T-A-R-U." Stressing, his real name, somehow Wataru thought it would help get his message across more clearly. Also, he didnt want to say now that it was his mum's cooking which was his favourite. It seemed un-cool.
"Why are you so curious about the team anyways?" Then, Wataru added "Must be Hino huh? He stole your heart eh?"
Now this was something new. Wataru wondered why Hoshiko thought that Hino didnt like girls... It was a weird thought althought Wataru didnt seem to care much. It didnt bother him as long as he wasnt involved in it. And as long as it didnt affect the team. So did that mean Hino wasn't after Mari-chan?
Wataru couldnt be sure yet.. it was just Hoshiko who was saying that and he didnt like rumours or confirming things just from one side of the story.
"They're all snobs?" Wataru repeated what Hoshiko just said but his tone was obviously unapproving. "Why are you saying that? Aren't you a girl yourself?" It was weird hearing what this girl saying. She looked like the typical sweet, cute girl who got along with all of her classmates. The type that would do alot of things to fit in with different groups. Maybe he was wrong.
"Maybe it's just that you havent found the right group of friends." Contemplating on before he met the tumbling team, he led a purposeless life. "But when you do meet them, you'll know the true meaning of friendship." Wataru couldnt help but smile as he remembered their tough times and how they got through because of each other.
Coming back to reality, he realised how stupid and naive he sounded. Blushing a little and turning away, he asked "So where is the sandwich?"
Wataru felt a little bad for actually wanting to take the bread and eat some other girl's lunch...but it was her fault right?
"Wait... you had something to eat right? I mean... I dont want to get called for stealing some girl's lunch"

ooc: It was not a bad post at all! I'm sorry I took so long to respond to it! "My name is Azuma Wataru. The mighty yankee of Karasumori High School. Got that? Azuma W-A-T-A-R-U."Hoshiko simply smiled. Now that he said his name, she did know him. She'd at least heard about him before. She was an underclassman, where as he was an upperclassman, so their encounters in the past had been few and far between, and they'd never spoken at all before this moment. And yet, what she could recall hearing about him had always been bad things, though she only got good vibes from this guy. Harsh too, but good nonetheless. "They're all snobs?" Freddie Azuma repeated out loud. Hoshiko quickly brought a finger to her mouth to signal he be quiet. "They'll hear you!" she reminded, chancing a hasty glance around the room to ensure none of the girls she'd been talking about had heard. But they looked busy with their own gossip, as usual. "Not like they don't hate me enough already..." "Why are you saying that? Aren't you a girl yourself?"Hoshiko heard Wataru's voice and looked back up to his face. He seemed fairly confused, and she wasn't sure how she could explain to him that she did have good friends who were girls, and just as many male friends, but that the more popular females in the classroom thought she was a weirdy-face. "I hope so!" she mused, giggling slightly. "I just mean that some girls are quick to put on an act for the guys, then they change when they think the boys aren't looking....oh what the heck, who wants to talk about this serious stuff?" "Maybe it's just that you havent found the right group of friends." Freddie Azuma seemed really serious about this all of a sudden, and concerned too--which was almost the first time someone had seemed so serious worried about Hoshiko's relationships, maybe even more than herself. She actually hesitated, becoming serious herself, as the redhead spoke. "But when you do meet them, you'll know the true meaning of friendship."And he was smiling. The tough, Yankee look had been replaced with a smile. Hoshiko felt her own grin returning. Then Wataru seemed to come out of whatever reverie he'd fallen into. He looked away, his face reddening. "So where is the sandwich?"Hoshiko paused for a moment, just watching the Yankee. "That was really deep Azuma Fred. It's this way!" She started off in the direction of her untouched sandwich, still holding onto the empty water cup, a slight skip in her step. "Wait..."Hoshiko stopped short. "Huh?" "You had something to eat right? I mean... I dont want to get called for stealing some girl's lunch."The younger girl wrinkled her nose and shrugged. "Not really, but who's going to call you out on it? Not me." Realizing how the Yankee probably felt about taking someone else's lunch, especially a girl's, she sighed and rolled her eyes. "Azume Freddie-senpai...You can take it! I'm not that big a fan of it anyway, and I think I owe you for helping you drop an innocent sandwich. But...." She started smirking again. "Can you promise to show me one of your Tumbling meets some time? I promise I'll be quiet!"

"Why are you saying that? Aren't you a girl yourself?" It was weird hearing what this girl saying. "I hope so!" she mused, giggling slightly. "I just mean that some girls are quick to put on an act for the guys, then they change when they think the boys aren't looking....oh what the heck, who wants to talk about this serious stuff?"Wataru nodded unconsciously as he agreed with what Hoshiko just mentioned. He knew that there were many girls out there in which they put a mask on, attempting to lure boys into believing that they were the 'ideal' type of girl. They loved to seek attention and sickly enjoyed the way many boys would chase after them. To summarise in one word, Show-off. In another word, Two faced people. Or maybe even multi-faced depending on the amount of fakeness that was there within many young highschool girl nowadays. It was more of a sentence or phrase but Wataru couldnt be bothered to make these kind of corrections in his mind. ... "So where is the sandwich?" "That was really deep Azuma Fred. It's this way!" She started off in the direction of her untouched sandwich, still holding onto the empty water cup, a slight skip in her step. Maybe it was kind of deep, what Wataru had said regarding the friendship and all that, but what he said had somehow just slipped out before he realised. Hoshiko was still calling him Fred. Wataru didn't feel completely comfortable with the way that name sat with him. It bothered him but not so much on a major scale that he felt like wanting to make a big fuss about. "Wait... you had something to eat right? I mean... I dont want to get called for stealing some girl's lunch" "Not really, but who's going to call you out on it? Not me." Realizing how the Yankee probably felt about taking someone else's lunch, especially a girl's, she sighed and rolled her eyes. "Azume Freddie-senpai...You can take it! I'm not that big a fan of it anyway, and I think I owe you for helping you drop an innocent sandwich. But...."By now, Wataru could no longer stand the weirdness the way Hoshiko called him Freddie. Somehow, it made him feel uncomfortable and the more Hoshiko called him that, his eyebrows would automatically draw themselves closer, producing the slightest set of wrinkles on his forehead. The name was just a little too cute for him to handle. "Jeez.. Can you have a little more respect and just call me senpai? Adding Freddie is just...weird." Wataru was complaining and he made absolutely no attempt to hide his dislike for that nickname. "It's not cool anyways" Snorted Wataru. "But you're right, you do owe me" "Can you promise to show me one of your Tumbling meets some time? I promise I'll be quiet!" This made Wataru smirk with a devilish look in his eyes as he was clouded with misunderstanding. "So that was what you were after all along huh? I thought you were being nice to me, offering me a sandwish." Wataru still didn't quite realise why Hoshiko was so persistently interested in the tumbling team. But the way she was so eager to see them practise made Wataru a little suspicious, resulting in him putting up his guard once more. He wasn't the type of man that would trust others easily. Especially a girl he had just bumped into a while ago in the cafeteria. "I knew it. You wouldn't even approach me and be this nice if I wasn't in the team right?" Wataru didn't expect Hoshiko to answer his rhetorical question so he continued "That's the treatment you get for being a yankee". Wataru was acting overly sensitive. Maybe because it was the first time for him, talking to another girl at school without the other around, with the exception of Mari-chan. He just had no idea how the female mind worked. Wataru was also slightly disappointed, thinking that no one would see him as the real him if it wasn't for that he had joined the team. Slightly pissed off now, Wataru said sternly "Forget it", and with that, he turned around from where he was standing, thinking that it was better for him to just leave. OOC: So sorry that Wataru is being so rude! Gomen ne? >< Hope Hoshiko doesn't mind too much =S
