Country: Japan
Profession: Student, also currently searching for a part-time job
Group: (Karasumori High School; Member of a school music club/band)
Appearance:
Personality:
Tomboy// Hoshiko is the kind of girl who feels almost out-of-place in Japanese society, not because she's particularly different or trying to make some kind of statement, but more because she doesn't quite believe in acting "submissive" to her male counterparts, like it seems (to her) that a lot of her friends and classmates do. Despite having something of a sweet appearance, she's very much a tomboy in her own right and doesn't quite like to do the more "girly" things Japanese schoolgirls do. She definitely has favorite celebrity crushes she enjoys gushing over and likes to try to be fashionable in her own sense, but Hoshiko is the kind of girl who is far more interested in going on adventures and fooling around with video games over shopping and getting "prettified."
True Gemini// On the contrary, true to her Gemini nature, she flip flops between being shy and feeling outgoing. It has mostly to do with the people and situation involved. There are certain people Hoshiko feels like she can open up to or easily chat with, while others she can sometimes find perhaps a bit too intimidating to approach. By nature, or at least with her closest friends, Hoshiko is something of a daredevil, always ready to have fun and fool around, do something. But when she encounters someone or something she doesn't understand or finds herself afraid of, then her mood can change entirely.
That being said, Hoshiko is one of the quieter kids in the class. She won't blurt out answers or do anything too outlandish, but she's not afraid to speak if called upon. She has the tendency of letting things happen as they come to her and being the epitome of the word "procrastinator." Her true belief is that the best knowledge lies outside of the classroom, and even though she does fairly okay in terms of grades, she's sort of that Mary-Sue character constantly looking out the window and daydreaming while in school. One thing Hoshiko is truly passionate about is music.
History:
Hoshiko was born in the same town as the Karasumori High School. A native of the peaceful area all throughout her childhood, she became very sentimental and attached to it so that even to this day, though she dreams of adventuring out somewhere bigger and newer, she knows this is the home she will always return to.
Hoshiko's life was very simple. Her father worked as an assistant to the CEO of a decent computer company, and her mother remained home as a homemaker, taking care of her and her older sister. The instant she was put into a kindergarten level school, Hoshiko became one of those far too "curious" students. She would sneak off her sleeping cot to go exploring when the teachers were preoccupied, then rush back and pretend she'd been sleeping all along when she heard their footsteps approaching the room where the kindergartners slept. It was also around this time that she became fascinated by music, a sweet little indulgence that would last all the way through to present day.
As Hoshiko progressed through elementary school and then middle school, she did just fine. Her grades were solid enough, she became active in the more "artsy" programs offered to the younger students, and even though she often fell in love with one classmate or another, she never really had the opportunity to school date any of them the way many of the other female classmates got to. On the contrary, Hoshiko ended up spending her time either on her own fooling around with music or doing something creative, or hanging out with her school friends to do the shopping she wasn't quite so enthralled with or play video games. Through it all, the situation at the Nakanishi home was quite comfortable. Despite some economic troubles in Japan, Hoshiko's family was doing just fine, and the whole family was healthy enough.
By the time Hoshiko reached high school, she'd given up on the idea of really being able to date any of the boys in school, no matter how much she liked them, but instead began to focus on her future career. Joining in on as many art-related clubs she could manage, Hoshiko ended up becoming the co-manager of one of Karasumori High's biggest musical groups, as well as long-term member of the school's Modern Dance unit. Yet always eager for something new, Hoshiko has become interested in the school's male Tumbling Team. She knows it's impossible to become a member of a boys' team, but after the team asked for some help from one of the school's music bands for one of their routines, Hoshiko had finally gotten to see them perform. She wasn't interested in the girly girl stuff the Karasumori Girls' Team did. She was interested in the flipping, Tumbling, and flying.
Hoshiko is currently in her 2nd year, doing her best to maintain her grades, keep active, and....indulge this new interest.
