Nippori frowned to himself as he made his way to his classroom after the bell rang to signal the end of lunch break. Personally, he would much rather have stayed with his friends, or that lunch break had lasted a little longer. Today had been dragging on for what almost felt like forever, and he didn't want to go back to class. However, at the same time, he wanted school to be over so he could just get to rhythmic gymnastics practice. He still felt like he was further behind than everyone else, and it was frustrating. He wished that he had more time to practice, but he had his job to worry about as well, to earn the money to keep his family going.
Letting out a small sigh, he grabbed onto the doorframe of his classroom and swung slightly as he turned into the room. Naturally, he was a little late, and everyone else was already seated, and the teacher was just about to start the lesson. Without saying anything, Nippori just went over to his seat by the window and sat down.
Already he could tell that the rest of the day would probably drag out too...
All too soon, Nippori was proved correct in his assumptions as the next ten minutes of class felt like they lasted an hour. Or perhaps even more than that, but then he was possibly just being dramatic. He had been noting down some of the things that were being written on the board, but he wasn't paying complete attention. He turned his gaze out of the window for a moment, a common habit of his in the classroom, but instead found himself getting a bit fed up and shifting slightly in his seat, slumping forward onto his desk, resting his chin on his now folded arms.
Shifting his hand slightly, Nippori felt the paper of his open notebook crinkle under his fingers. Glancing sideways, his eyes rested on Maeda Chiyo, who sat in the seat beside him. They had been in the same class the previous year also, and had kinda stuck together a little. In school, anyway. Being the only two yankees in the class for the past two years tended to do that. Looking down at this notebook, he picked up his pencil again, quietly tore out a page from the notebook and scribbled down a message at the top of the page, reading: Is it just me or is this class so boring that you want to cut off your ears so you can't listen to it anymore?
"Psst," he muttered softly, trying to get Chiyo's attention. As much as he was a Yankee, he didn't want to get yelled at by the teacher and possibly given detention; not when he had practice after school as well as work. That would be the last thing he needed. So, this was his last resort before he lost his mind out of boredom. Quickly, he slipped her the note when the teacher's back was turned towards the chalkboard, placing it on the edge of her desk and immediately moving his hand to rest back on his own desk before the teacher turned around.
He was thankful that they both sat in the back row of the class, in the two seats nearest the window, so it would be hard for the teacher and their other classmates to notice what they were doing.
Nippori, for one, wasn't about to sit through all of this without anything to do. Sure, he could actually listen if he was that bored, but that wasn't exactly going to be fun, was it? Besides, he would pay attention enough to note some things down like he had been doing already so far. But talking to Chiyo to help alleviate some of that boredom was hardly going to be a bad thing.
((ooc - finally got this started! It feels good to write with Nippori again <3 I'm looking forward to this! XD))
