Kaneko started playing gymnastic-related sports since junior high, but always failed miserably.
That was until he joined the men's RG team at Karasumori Senior High.
He is totally aware he's not the best tumbler, that his arms sometimes shake too much, that his flips are not always perfect.
But Kaneko's biggest fear is to disappoint his team mates and that's why he always tries his best.
Even if he knows he might not continue to do rhythmic gymnastic after school, he'd like one day to have a job related to it.
Kaneko always stand up for his friends and his beliefs.
He wishes to be respected more by his kouhai, especially Nippori.
He doesn't like yankees, but Azuma and his friends showed him they can change if they want and he now respects his 'not ordinary' team mates.family & history

Kaneko is the 2nd son of Masaki (father, 44) and Chisato (mother, 42).
He has an older brother, Jun (20) who is his complete opposite: good looking, smart and succeeds in everything he does.
Kaneko had never been the kid who'd stand out, but always tried his best, pushing himself over his limits.
He loves his family and he'd be really sad to disappoint them.
Although his parents were not sure if RG was good for him, later on they fully supported his decision.
Kaneko has a cat: he found it on the street 2 years ago during a downpour and took him home.
He called him Pero, like the cat of his neighbors when they lived on the other side of the town.
Strangely, Pero seems to adore only Kaneko, his mother... and Nippori.
Kaneko knows he might not get a tuition for RG, but he is still planning to go to University in a sport-related course.
Considering his level is way lower than Misuzawa and Hino's ones, since the beginning of his third year he started to consider a career in athletic committees.other
