Site-Wide Plots & Canons Discussions

Hey all! A while back Alex mentioned that site-wide plots and might help it be easier for newer people to join the site.

There are two ways I was thinking we could do this... either thinking up different plots that affect the different user groups (mostly differentiated by places), or thinking up universal plots and trying to make them fit all of the user groups. The latter would probably be more difficult, but would involve more potential people!

I've "user groups" (basically, what everyone would do) listed below.

STUDENTS:

• Karasumori High School: The main school, not really poor, but far from rich. Potential plots: a fight to fill the hole Wataru's leaving the gang leaves, stereotypical school event (festival, contests, field trips, etc.) type plots
  
  
• Washizu Academy: A private academy, and the most prestigious school in the region. Plots would run like Karasumori's... just classier
  
  
• A Middle School?: Like, where Hinako would go. Basic school stuff... just tiny-sized.
  
  
• Kanagawa International School: A private international school, located in the town next to the canon one. It is mostly populated by children of temporary residents, and wealthy Japanese families who wish to give their children a head start in English and/or an American-style education.
  
  
• Local College: A... local junior college. Not a particularly good one, because kids go to the city if they want to go to a great school.

ADULTS:

• School Faculty and Staff: Teachers and the like. Work at the schools, may or may not live in or frequent the below areas. Possible plots: ...would probably overlap with the students'
  
  
• The Residential Area: Where people live. The southern area closer to the sea (and the shopping district) is poorer than the area more inland. Possible plots: neighborhood watch being formed to counter crime, a haunted house
  
  
• The Shopping District: Like many in such a small town, comprised of many small, family-owned businesses. The Azuma restaurant "Kamone", Tashiro Shigeo's greengrocery, and the Nippori printing press are among the businesses that can be found there. Possible plots: the threat of a chain business/shopping mall/etc coming and wiping out the local threats, a neighborhood watch being formed to counter the crime, local business wars

OTHERS:

• The Karasumori Gang: Pretty much dissolved since its leader, Azuma Wataru, decided to quit such activities... or has it? Will someone rise to take his place? Will the ex-yankees get pulled back to their old ways?
  
  
• Akabane's Gang: After being scorned by Azuma and his friends and being expelled, Akabane's on a path for power and revenge. His group his ruthless, even for a street gang, and consists of both school-aged members and older members. He may or may not be associating with small-time yakuza. Possible plots: making life hell for Azuma, duh
  
  
• A Unit of A Yakuza Family: Like it says on the tin, it's the local branch of one of the big yakuza groups. They dabble in everything from gambling, to theft, to prostitution. The community has mixed feelings on their existence there, but in the end the group is usually low-key. The local head's name is Kondou. They have gang fights. ;3
  
  
• A gang comprised of foreigners: Yeah. Maybe people from the International school, wandering into town? Could be closer to organized crime in the Western sense. Very small-time and would probably get their arses kicked without support from locals

CHARACTERS:
I think that it was said that people would want pre-created characters... There were some additions to the site canons lately! Here are maybe some more? I don't know how proposing site canons usually goes, but I listed some with suggested play-bys and scenarios.

• Jasmine Aoki, 17, Second-year. Daughter of a Japanese and an American retired military. Goes to the international school. Flighty, sociable, and creative, she likes to explore her surroundings, like the small seaside town next to her current one. She fancies herself a minor Internet celebrity and keeps a decently popular bilingual blog. Suggested play-by: Aoyama Thelma
  
  
• Rumio Cordona, 18, Third-year. Son of a Spanish photojournalist and a Japanese civilian. Goes to the international school. Sensitive, mediocre in many ways, and extremely cowardly. Despite his imposing figure, he's easily pushed around by his peers, and his latest punishment is making trouble with the famed yankee gang in the next town... Suggested play-by: Shirota Yu
  
  
• Kondo Susumu, 47, yakuza boss. Manages the gang activities in the main town. Just in the "yakuza" sense, but still calculating. He remains ambivalent to the activities of the local yankees, though a certain group has put itself on the radar, and he fears that he might have to target a high school student... Has a strange connection to the local police chief, but no one knows what it is... Suggested play-by: (whoever played him in the show... @_@)
  
  
• Tanihara Katsuyoshi, 43, local police chief. A gruff, back-to-basics kind of guy who would like to stomp out this local gang activity, but is at a loss on how to do it. Transferred to the town from a larger precinct, though no one knows the reason why... he has a strange connection with the local yakuza boss. Suggested play-by: Abe Hiroshi
  
  
• Ito Shin'ichi, 17, Third-year. The class representative of Karasumori homeroom 3-E, the one most of the main canons are in. Usually the quiet type, his patience has worn thin with the amount of yankees in his class, and the trouble that follows them (whether it's their faults or not). Suggested play-by... Coming up short right now... -_-;;
  
  
• Leonard Stern, 38, . Charming, talkative, and speaks a strangely-accented Japanese. A weird foreigner who slinks around town, though no one knows exactly what he does. Some find him helpful, some find him amusing, and some just want him gone. Might have some Japanophilic tendencies... He's probably a con-artist Suggested play-by: CRISS ANGEL YEAH
  

Though I kinda wanna play Jasmine and/or Rumio myself...

Anyhow, these are just suggestions, and I want to hear YOUR suggestions. I can add stuff in this post... right now I'm pressed for time and creativity... ^^;;

This is seriously such amazing work, Kinolee! I've already created the new schools as boards and have added all the canons! Please take any that you like! Right now, I'm in the process of deciding if I should redefine the user groups, whether to include a group for gangs or to create a separate group for the international students. Things like that. I haven't added the new plot yet either because I'd love to talk with you about it more!

You really are amazing, kinolee =D And I really want to take Ito Shin'ichi now...and I just might have to XD especially since Alex made his face claim Koike Teppei! <3

But, Alex, in reply to what you said about usergroups... I think you should have a different group for the college, the international school and the middle school, but gangs could just get confusing so I wouldn't make separate usergroups for them. Especially if people are free to apply to make their own gangs as well. I think it would get too much that way.

Right. So instead, here's what I'll do. If I can get the right code to do it (because I'm only allowed four member groups), then I'll add a group for all the schools. And then adults (who are not working at the schools) will be put as either Japanese resident or Foreign Resident. =)
