Mari is quite tall for a girl at 167cm in height. She has a slim, lightly toned frame and long legs. She has long black hair, big brown eyes, a clear complexion and a very pretty smile. Her taste in clothes is cute and casual, and she likes quite a lot of colour.personality
Mari is a sweetheart, and probably just about the sweetest and most thoughtful person you would meet. She’s kind and caring, always ready to help others. She has a tendency to put other’s before herself a lot. Mari is the type of person that if she sees a person that needs help - be it an old woman with her shopping, or a kid getting picked on - she’ll step in to help without a second thought. Sometimes though, her caring streak can get herself mixed up in a lot of trouble and end up in danger.
As far as likes go, Mari has a particular weakness for candy and sweets, even if she shouldn’t really have them often because of her training regime. Animals are also one of her favourite things in the world - though of course that would be the case considering in her house with her, her little sister, little brother, mum and dad, there are three cats, two dogs, a parrot and two fish tanks. And of course, Mari loves the girl’s rhythmic gymnastics team.
Mari doesn’t dislike much, always standing by the saying “don’t knock it until you’ve tried it”. She’s one of those lucky people that has found a lot of good things by trying them, and has hardly come across anything - activities, hobbies and food - that she doesn’t like or find interesting. However, some of the few things she does dislike are dark chocolate (it’s too bitter), soccer (though she doesn’t mind watching it sometimes), being left out, and moving about all the time like she and her family have done for years.
The only fears that Mari really has are of losing her friends through having to move again. The last thing she wants to happen is lose another set of friends thanks to her dad being moved somewhere else because of his work. Because, in fact, she’s found herself more attached to Karasumori than any of her previous schools. Also, though it’s not so much a fear but rather a deep concern, she’s worried that with all the criticism, the male rhythmic gymnastics team will find it hard to succeed. She’s behind them 100% unlike a lot of other people and believes they can do it.
Mari’s strength lies in music and dance mainly, and her other skills include things like cheering people up and talking to others. She’s a good cook, and she loves baking especially with her mum and little sister. Her flexibility and stamina are good, she just needs to work on her speed a little. As sweet as she is, Mari is only an average student, and so tries her best to study when she can. She can also be a little absent if there’s something troubling her, so she ends up missing things in class or messing up at tumbling practice.family & history

Ever since she was born, Mari has grown up in a large family. Family gatherings happen at least once a year, even if all the family can never attend at once. They’re a fairly rowdy, fun bunch, and it’s easy to see when looking at them where Mari gets her friendly and happy-go-lucky attitude from. Needless to say, her family was loving and so her childhood was pleasant and holds a lot of happy memories for her.
Her passion for dancing really began when she was four, and an old black and white film was on TV, and two men were tap-dancing. That was what kick-started it all. She attended a local dance school, where she learned tap, jazz and modern dancing. A few years later she started attending summer schools as well, where they taught more types of dance.
It was when Mari was nine that her family started to move around a lot because of her father’s job. It created a fair bit of stress, but they dealt with it. Her parents have argued a little over the past few years about all the moving, and Mari always takes her younger siblings into another room and plays games with them to keep them occupied. In total, Mari has went to three different elementary schools, two different middle schools, and Karasumori is now the second high school that she has attended.
Her father has promised her this time that they wouldn’t be moving again until after her graduation. She can only hope that he keeps his promise, because she doesn’t want to lose anyone that she’s met at Karasumori.other
