Ryuu is relatively tall at 178cm in height. He has a well-toned physique thanks to gymnastics and other sports, and most of his strength is in his upper-body. His hair is often either black or brown, but more commonly the latter, and he has beautiful dark brown eyes, and naturally tanned skin. His sense of style is casual-but-stylish, and he likes a fair amount of colour.personality
Ryuu appears very happy-go-lucky to most, but he can be quite different than what most people think. Sure, he can be nice and cheerful and friendly, but only if you’re a close friend or he wants something from you. Only his close friends get to see his true nice side; the “nice side” that everyone else sees is a lie. He’s the type of person that might be nice to your face, but secretly hate you and say things behind your back. He doesn’t have much patience when it comes to others, and can often get annoyed, stressed out or angry with people. However, thanks to his acting skills, he can fool a lot of people, which works just fine for his player-like ways when it comes to women.
His likes include a few obvious things like girls and music, but he also enjoys simpler things that some people might not expect. He goes on walks a lot, though often on his own. He adores animals, especially his dog Ezra, an Alaskan Malamute. A favourite hobby of his is photography, and he actually does some work for his mother on the odd occasion when she doesn’t like the photographers she hires or they cancel. He takes a lot of photos on his phone when he doesn’t have a camera, although that isn’t often. If someone was to look through his phone, they would find hundreds of different pictures of a hundred different things.
As far as dislikes go, he doesn’t like Karasumori. He hates the school, and it’s male students and the male tumbling team - the female tumbling team he doesn’t mind, because he can acknowledge their talent, plus the fact they’re girls. The male team on the other hand are a different story. He doesn’t like them. End of. He finds them annoying, especially the yankees. But perhaps that’s just because they remind him of his own past that he would rather forget about. He refuses to acknowledge that the Karasumori male team have gotten better, and refuses to think that they stand a chance against Washizu at all.
What Ryuu fears most is possibly having to follow in his father’s footsteps. He doesn’t want to go into his father’s business and someday take it over like he knows his father wants him to. No, in actuality, he’s torn about what exactly he wants to do. The two options he’s considering are continuing with gymnastics, or becoming a professional photographer. He doesn’t want to be stuck in an office for the rest of his life, and he certainly doesn’t want to be bossed around by his old man either. He believes that he is his own person, so he should have his own choice in what he should do, and not just do something that has apparently been set for him to do even before he was born. Also, don’t tell anyone this…but he’s afraid of spiders.
Believing himself a talented person, if anyone asked what his strengths were he would say strength itself, his flexibility and stamina. Gymnastics is been something he has been doing since elementary, so he’s close to one of the most talented members of the Washizu team. He’s done a few other sports in his life, including athletics, so his strength and speed are up to standard. Photography is another skill, and one that he wants to make the most of. He sometimes works for his mother, and other times, he sells his work to make his own money. Although, his parents don’t know anything about that.
Ryuu doesn’t believe in weaknesses, although he definitely has a few - good luck trying to get him to admit them to you, however. He can be selfish and only think about himself. He can be close-minded and not see the bigger picture of a situation. It takes a lot to earn his trust, and even longer then before he would confide anything in you. His temper is also relatively quick to snap, so it’s probably better for everyone if he isn’t annoyed.family & history
Father: Nakata Tadashi
Mother: Nakata Haruhi
Siblings: Nakata Sakura (14), Nakata Kazuki (7)
Others: n/a
As the first-born son of Nakata Tadashi, from the moment Ryuu was born he was already set to eventually inherit his father’s company. With that weight already resting on his tiny shoulders, there was a lot of expectations that Tadashi had from his son. Everything was fine up until Ryuu started attending elementary school, when he was seen as being slightly slower than some of the other children. Despite the fact that Ryuu was nowhere near the slowest in the class, this wasn’t good enough for Tadashi. And this was only to be the start of Ryuu’s seemingly never-ending disapproval from his father.
It wasn’t until a couple of years into elementary that Ryuu got his first proper taste of gymnastics. He had done some other sports before, including martial arts, but this was different. There were some older students practicing on the other side of the gym from where his class were doing regular PE. He had watched, enthralled, as they practiced to do backflips and handstands and combinations of other things. It all looked so fun, so pretty and so…cool. He had asked his teacher what they were doing, and she had explained, also saying that there was a gymnastics club if he wanted to learn.
Pleased that her son had taken an interest in something linked quite closely to the arts, his mother Haruhi, a fashion designer, paid for a private gymnastics coach for her son as well. But not only did Ryuu take an interest in gymnastics, but also in his mother’s work. With his father’s work taking most of his time, he was hardly ever around so it was often just Ryuu and his mother. When she had photoshoots for her designs, Ryuu sometimes tagged along. It was through this that he became interested in photography, and he got his first proper camera for Christmas that year.
When Ryuu entered middle school, however, things changed at home. He’d reached that rebellious age, and so felt the need to completely defy his father, now being old enough to know what was expected of him and not liking it one bit. He became somewhat like a yankee, dying his hair a golden colour, because he knew it would rile his father beyond anything else. He didn’t get into all that many fights in total, but he did win the majority of the ones he was in. Though, as the end of his final year of middle school approached, he thought things over and decided to change.
Over the past few years, Ryuu has cleaned up his act, both because he was sick of it and because that wasn’t the real him and he wanted to show his father that the real him could be a success without having to follow in his footsteps. His grades are decent, he practice his gymnastics regularly, and he still does photography. Now that he is in his last year of high school, he’s considering a few universities that he could apply, but he’s torn between gymnastics and photography.other
