So I just saw on a Tumblr post quite a bit about the Tumbling Stage Play. I knew it focused on Kiyama's career after high school, but apparently they give away a lot of other information too.
So basically, 5 years after the Tumbling drama takes place....
Kiyama became the Rhythmic Gymnastic coach of a new school, and Kaneko is the Karasumori Rhythmic Gymnastic Team's coach.
Apparently, Ryosuke, by this time, is married and has 6 children (ALREADY!?!?!?!), Hino is with Mari and busy with (according to the girl who posted this, who also thought it might be some silliness) his schedule with AAA. And Nippori and Yuuta are apparently normal workers.
Now I wanna see the stage play. ^^;; Does anyone know more about this? Sounds pretty funny! And I love seeing what happens to my fave characters when they grow up!

Agreed about the stuff you didn't expect, hehehe, and actually, I wonder if that's true about Ryo and his six kids. Or even any of the cast's stories. I didn't find this info on the official site, so it's very possible it was just a fan's recreation. I'll go look at the official site now to see! Omoshiroi.... XD

lolz... actually a while ago for some fic information I went on this ~mystic quest~ to find information about the stageplay, but I didn't think to post it! Thanks for making this thread XD
Since it stars Kiyama and Kaneko, what's happened to them is pretty straightforward. Probably a bit unexpected particularly in Kiyama's case (though there was an allusion in the last episode... but this one thread I read went into this interesting discussion about character development and all that XD). Apparently they're good friends in the future, which I think is really cool.
On the others... Everywhere I've read said that Ryosuke has five kids... but, y'know, STILL. Can't imagine that... they should all be girls :-[ (The thread I read said he joined "Umizaru" to support them... )
Also, from what I've read, Hino's in college, still competing, and now engaged to Mari (lolz). Wataru's still around, pretty much being a shut-in (though maybe helping out with the restaurant too? and being distraught about the Hino/Mari thing). Takenaka is a company worker who tried to get a rhythmic gymnastics group started at his job but I don't know how that went... XD
I didn't know the thing about Mizusawa, though! XD Nor Nippori... I also haven't heard any news about what Satoshi has been doing. I'm thinking that maybe only backstories were created for the characters whose actors attended the show? (and I'm not sure if Tomiura went?) It makes me wonder which showing they picked to film for the DVD...

OKAY I FINALLY FINISHED IT THE OTHER DAY AND IM STILL GIDDY FROM IT why didn't I watch it sooner?
I remembered this time that someone wanted clarification on the rumors, so I'm posting it here. Insert the usual "I'm far from fluent and probably made some mistakes" disclaimer~!
Firstly, Kiyama and Kaneko both work in schools. Kiyama's a Japanese history teacher (like Kashiwagi was) at a school not too far from Karasumori, while Kaneko has a temporary position as coach for Karasumori. About twenty minutes in the play the two have a conversation and talk about the others:
- Wataru is apparently traveling worldwide to spread the goodness that is Kamone's omelette rice. He returned back to Japan a little before the events of the play happen.
- Both Tsuchiya and Nippori have taken over their family businesses; the bath house and the printing press. They both seem to be doing well in their respective positions.
- Yuuta is a regulary company worker now and has tried to start up an RG club at his office. It's not working well, for the reasons you'd expect.
- Ryosuke has given up his skirt-chasing ways because he is married with FIVE CHILDREN. They're all boys. He's also very domestic now, doing things like cleaning and laundry.
- Mizusawa is an ☆ACTION STAR☆. I think by this, they mean a movie actor that does a lot of stunts and shouting and so forth.
Okay, okay, okay. So I watched this scene no less than five times, and they did not mention Hino. There were ten showings of the play, so I can imagine there being some variation, ad-libbing, or just forgetting on the parts of the actors, so maybe that explains some of the rumors? Anyhow, lots of "lolwut" here, and I'm not sure if we're to consider all this canon or not. Be your own judges~ Anyhow, I'm going to try to watch the play again soon for "research purposes" so let me know if you have any other questions regarding it~
